Los Botados is our lighthouse project to develop a whole region of four communities in terms of waste management. In total there are 77,000 residents, producing 70 t of waste per day. Dr. Fechter Clean City takes over the full process from waste collection in the cities with Dr. Fechter Clean City garbage trucks, which bring it to the plant south of Reparadero. There, a 5MW biomass plant burns all that waste. The generated electricity is given back to those communities in return.

With this plant Dr. Fechter Clean City follows international standards like the United Nations “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”. It focusses on securing affordable and clean energy, decent work, economic growth and climate change measures.

Super Fresh Market – Santo Domingo / Dominican Republics

This is one of the leading supermarkets in the region, delivering high quality products and a unique customer orientation. Like every supermarket it produces a huge amount of waste every day, which cannot be reduced that easily. Therefore, consideration needs to be given to waste management and how to deal with it. Up to now, Super Fresh Market collected the waste in containers, which were picked up by the local authority and taken to a garbage dump.

The new Dr. Fechter Clean City biomass plant replaces the current container system, so space for the containers is no longer needed. Because Super Fresh Market puts all the waste into this plant, no further waste management or transportation is needed. And in addition, this plant is generating electric power, which can be used directly in Super Fresh Market.

Monte Plata / Solar Energy photovoltaic plant 69MW

The Monte Plata Solar project, with the 270,000 panels we are currently installing in the Dominican Republic, is not only the largest solar project to date in the country, it is also the largest in the Caribbean region with a capacity of 69MW. Once completed it will produce 65,000,000 kWh per year, which represents annual savings in contamination of 70,000 tons of CO2, improving the sustainability of its electric grid and its economy.

This existing plant will now be extended by a biomass plant, which was enabled with the strong support of Mr. Ramon Santos and his ideal of a green, clean and powerful region. His initiative of Dominicana Limpia is the best basis for reaching this target.

San Pedro planning permission for 130 MVA solar project

The San Pedro solar project has been legally approved and is ready to be planned and built. This location will offer space for a 130MVA photovoltaic plant, which could generate sufficient power to supply 20 million households and will also supply local industries and the municipality of San Pedro.
